Counseling by phone is becoming more and more common as people have become more accustomed to using the internet for shopping and research. Many counselors now see at least a few people over the phone who may live in another part of the country. A recent study in the Journal of Counseling and Development found that people are generally more satisfied with phone counseling than face-to-face counseling. There are several advantages and disadvantages to counseling by phone. For some people the convenience and accessibility that phone counseling offers is of primary imporance.
