I’m sure you’ve heard the expression that “You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar”. In case you haven’t heard it, it means that you get much further with compliments than with put-downs and criticism. This is especially true in relationships. I’ve read that psychologists say that it takes as many as ten positive comments to offset one negative comment, but I don’t know whether or not that’s true. The power of one positive comment can be pretty amazing.
